This rubber "O" ring is the factory sized circumference and thickness to fit the groove around the bumper on the under side of the Core-Tex dome.  This rubber ring protects the plastic bumper from directly contacting the steel frame during use. 

It is not recommended to use your Core-Tex without the "O" ring in place to prevent damage to the bumper.
