Very simple but routine maintenance will keep your Core-Tex moving smoothly, extend the life of your ball transfers and minimize the sound produced. Click here to see this short video for cleaning instructions.
The ball transfers on the Core-Tex don’t seem to move as well as they used to. Can I clean them?
Yes. The ball transfers can easily be washed with soap and water. Dust and small debris will get stick to the lubricant and get trapped inside the holding cup. Brand new ball transfers may also have some machine dust that negatively impacts their performance before being cleaned. Click here to watch the maintenance video for specific cleaning instructions. Rinse and remove excess water by holding upside down and moving the large ball transfer with your hand. Place on a paper towel with the outer ball transfer facing up and allow to drip dry with the help of the small drain hole on the bottom. Our suggested lubricant to improve the motion of the ball transfers is TriFlow. This is available at most bike shops: https://www.triflowlubricants.com/
Is there any way to quiet the sound of the ball transfers?
Regular maintanence of the ball transfers minimizes the sound they produce. If you do not have them, consider adding the Pad, ball transfer isolation rings
How come the bumper occasionally falls off?
On the original Core-Tex, a rubber bumper is used to limit travel. If the holding washer is not centered when the thumbscrew is tightened down, the bumper will turn the washer which then turns the thumbscrew until it backs out of the threads allowing the bumper to drop to the floor. To make sure the bumper stays on, the bumper should turn freely after the thumbscrew is tightened all the way down.
What can I do to limit members or clients from using the Core-Tex unsupervised?
Many facilities will simply turn the platform upside down on top of the base with the bumper facing up. This communicates to the members that the Core-Tex is not available to use. Some facilities have removed the ball transfers and kept them in the trainer’s office until the next use. When doing this, you run the risk of members attempting to use the Core-Tex without the ball transfers in place. This will likely scratch the underside of the platform and create an uneven surface for further use.
